Richard Blake, North West Frontier Force Rifles - can you help?
When my mother went to India as a VAD Nurse in 1945, she was allocated a young officer as an escort, Richard Blake of the North West Frontier Force Rifles.
When my mother went to India as a VAD Nurse in 1945, she was allocated a young officer as an escort, Richard Blake of the North West Frontier Force Rifles, who was also known as Dick. He served either in the 13th Frontier Force Rifles, or the 4th Battalion (Wilde’s) Frontier Force Rifles. His badge is a single star with the acronym IMA, which stands for Indian Military Academy.
In 1947 Richard left India and returned to his old Regiment, the Royal Hampshire Regiment (354019). He then served as a Lieutenant at 47 Group H.Q., a German P.O.W. Camp in Tel-el-Kebir, Egypt, where he was a Security Officer.
I have several photos of Richard, and some letters he wrote to my mother, and I would love to find any descendants.
